About Steve

Steve Evans Jr. is a performance coach and educator focused on building power that transfers to sport through intent driven, output based training.

My Journey

I became a coach out of curiosity about performance clarity. After years in basketball, track, and olympic weightlifting, I wanted to better understand why results fluctuated and how to build more consistent output over time.

Velocity-based tracking provided insight into what was happening inside each set – allowing programming to move from intuition alone to measurable decision-making.

The result was a framework for understanding not just what an athlete can do once – but what they can sustain, retain, and transfer.

The Method

Programming based on real performance data
Output-driven diagnostics
Power retention & transfer analysis

Background & Credentials

With a B.S. in Kinesiology, CSCS credentials, and advanced certifications including USA Weightlifting Level 2 and TPI Level 2, Steve’s work blends biomechanics, velocity based training, and applied coaching experience.

Coaching Philosophy

Power reveals itself across repetition. Training should reward quality, identify fatigue early, and guide athletes toward consistent, self-driven progression.

Founder’s Statement

EVANS VELO ZONE™ expands how power is understood.

Peak output is foundational. What completes the picture is how power sustains fatigue, adapts under load, and transfers to sport.

By structuring training around retention, transfer, and repeatability, the system integrates measurable durability into modern performance models.

This framework builds upon traditional power development – extending it with structured diagnostics that clarify how output behaves across progressive demand.

Who I Help

I work with athletes and coaches who want greater clarity in how performance evolves across training.

While peak output provides valuable information, sustained performance across fatigue and load shifts offers deeper insight into development. That is where my work focuses.

Instead of chasing isolated numbers, we track:
• Where usable output begins to change
• Whether adaptation is limited by retention or transfers
• How to adjust programming before regression occurs
For parents and athletes, this means:
• Every session has direction–not just intensity
• Power becomes durable, not just impressive
• Progress shows up across training blocks, not just single days
For coaches, this means you can have:
• Objective decision-making without overcomplicating programs
• Earlier fatigue detection and cleaner program adjustments
• Clearer communication of performance trends
This isn’t about adding more metrics. It's about measuring what actually matters–and training accordingly.
